NEWS & EVENTS

Program SpotlightAfter School Program

Our after school programs are a great way to keep kids active when school is done for the day.  We not only offer a place for them to meet with friends, play games and sports activities, but we also offer time for homework, exposure to arts and educational activities.

Programs such as Power Hour provide a quiet time and space for students to do their homework and receive help with their studies from volunteers and older members.Torch Club offers leadership opportunities and community and club involvement and Fitness Authority offers active and healthy alternatives.

A child's membership includes all of our year-round programs and more!

In addition to regularly scheduled programs, we also offer special activities and opportunities throughout the year such as field trips, sleepovers, and club parties.

Halloween at the Alderwood Boys & Girls Club
Or is it the "Bats and Ghouls" club?! Our members had a spooky good time playing games and making cookies.
Creative characters were in attendance!

Reach for the Stars Auction a Success!

Thanks to you and our supporters, this year's fundraiser auction, "Reach for the Stars", raised more than $168,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County. Dollars raised from this event are shared amongst the county clubs to fund our before and after school programs. In addition, our Kids Cafe Program, which feeds meals to hundreds of kids each day, raised nearly $52,000 that night!  Thank you again for a great evening and your gracious support.

Couldn't come to the auction and looking for other ways to help us? Check out our "How Can I Help" page!

Alderwood Boys & Girls Club Food Drive

For a few weeks in November, the club members collected food for the Lynnwood Food Bank. In addition to collections taken at the club, members from our Torch Club volunteered on  Saturday, November 21st, at Jersey Mike's to collect more food from the community. The kids had fun despite the cold.  The club would like to thank Jersey Mike's for their hospitality (the sandwiches were yummy!) and the use of their space.

2009 Youth of the Year
Members of the Alderwood Club Advisory Committee and community members will be voting on our 2009 Youth of the Year on December 8th.  Nominees consist of Alderwood Boys & Girls Club members (between the ages of 14 and 18) who have exemplified good character, helpfulness to others in the club, and community involvement, among other characteristics. Nominees will be asked to give a short speech about what the Boys & Girls Club means to them and then will be interviewed by the judging panel. One nominee will be named Alderwood's Youth of the Year and will move forward as a nominee for the Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County. Alderwood Club's 2009 Youth of the Year will be announced mid-December.

2009 Youths of the Month
Club Youth of the Month is an elementary student who shows great character and is helpful at the club. Sometimes it is a child who has shown great improvement and sometimes it is someone who is always doing good things and has a positive attitude. A youth of the month is voted on by club staff.
